The drawbacks to a Wireless Network

Although Wireless Networks offer huge benefits in it's simplicity, speed of set up and portability, the main drawback is speed, unless of course you have a Wireless N network. In a typical house, the wireless signal may have several walls to go through before it reaches you devices, each wall slightly diminishing the potential performance. Microwave ovens, cordless phones, Wireless TV senders etc may all generate noise in the 2.4 GHz spectrum and lower the network performance and this is quite important when you are trying to stream Videos files across your network. There are however some techniques for improving the performance such as changing the channel that the Wireless network uses or perhaps changing the ariel of the transmitter to give a higher gain.
